Madeira black figs
This fig is considered the king of fig varieties.
Black Madeira has a wonderfully sweet, rich flavor with a jam-like consistency.
Undoubtedly one of the best quality figs of first class taste.
The size of the fruits is usually medium.
It is very productive, but it is late in maturation and slow in growth.
The USDA at the University of California at Davis imported this from Madeira in Portugal.
The Portuguese fig grower, named Lambo, claims that the original name of this fig was Violetta.
We think it's the same fig known as figo preto
It may also be the same as the fig known in some parts of Portugal as violetta.
Black Madeira grafting is recommended over other vigorous varieties such as
Brown Turkish, Cypriot, Emiri and highly recommend this method.
